What Happens at Your First Appointment
Your first appointment at Huntington Beach Chiropractic takes about one hour. Every part happens the same day, in the office, at 18600 Main St, STE 110.
Here is the order it runs in.
1
Consultation
You sit down with the doctor and explain what brought you in. What hurts, how long it has been going on, and what you want to get back to doing.
2
Examination
A full physical examination, including range of motion and orthopedic testing.
3
Digital posture analysis
Your posture is measured with PostureScreen, not eyeballed. You get numbers.
4
Full spine digital X-rays
Taken in the office, same day. Analyzed with PostureRay software so the curves in your spine are measured, not estimated.
5
Report of findings
Dr. Michael VanDerschelden, DC sits down with you and walks through your own images and your own posture numbers. You see what he sees.
6
Your first full body adjustment
Including extremities. Explained before it happens.
7
Your recommendations
If care is recommended, you get a care plan built from your findings — how long, how many visits, and what it is meant to change. You leave knowing exactly what was measured and what comes next.
Booking Questions, Answered
What does the $50 deposit cover?
The $50 deposit reserves your appointment. The full price is $349. The remaining $299 is due before or during your first visit.
How long is the new patient appointment?
About one hour. Posture exam, digital X-rays, and a comprehensive physical exam, then your report of findings and your first adjustment. All of it the same day.
Do I have to complete the new patient exam?
Yes. Everyone does, without exception.
Adjustments here are built from objective findings — your exam, your X-rays, your posture measurements. Without the workup, there is nothing to build from.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel?
New patient appointments carry a 48-hour rescheduling policy.
Give more than 48 hours’ notice and you can reschedule. Less than 48 hours and the $50 deposit is forfeited. The deposit is nonrefundable.
The doctor sets aside a full hour for new patients and the calendar fills quickly. We will always put you in the earliest opening we have, but it may not be right away.
For follow-up appointments, call or text at least 24 hours ahead. No-shows and late cancellations may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
Do you take insurance?
Not for the first new patient appointment.
After that, insurance can be applied if it applies. Bring your card to your first visit and the front desk will look up your coverage details for you.
Do you offer payment plans?
Not for the new patient appointment.
Payment plans are available for care recommended after that appointment.
How soon can I get in?
Usually one to two weeks out, sometimes sooner.
Submitting the form starts the scheduling process and puts you in line for the earliest opening.
