Dr. Michael Will Not Adjust a Spine He Has Not Seen

Most chiropractors adjust by feel.

They press on your back. They ask where it hurts. Then they adjust.

No X-ray. No baseline. No measurement.

That is guessing. The pain quiets down for a few days. The structure underneath never changes. Next year you are back with the same pain.

Dr. Michael VanDerschelden, DC built Huntington Beach Chiropractic to reject that. He trained inside one of the largest practices in California, close to 80 patients a day. Same fast adjustment for everyone. Nobody got answers.

So he built the opposite.

What Happens Before Your First Adjustment

You do not get adjusted until Dr. Michael VanDerschelden knows what he is adjusting.

Your first visit starts with a full exam and digital X-rays. Those X-rays go into PostureRay, software that measures the real angles and curves in your spine. PostureScreen measures how your body holds itself up.

Now there are numbers on the screen instead of opinions.

Dr. Michael sits down and shows you the images and the measurements. The exact places your spine has moved away from where it belongs.

Then he builds your care plan. From your findings. Not from a template.

The Workup, Step by Step

  • 01

    Digital X-Ray & Posture Analysis

Every new patient starts here — objective imaging, not a guess from touch and symptoms alone.

  • 02

    Objective Findings & Care Plan

Your X-ray and posture findings shape a structured plan built for your body, not a template.

  • 03

    Y-Strap & Magic Hug Adjustment

Two proprietary techniques — precise spinal decompression and standing occipital release.

  • 04

    Re-Examination & Measured Change

At set points, new posture measurements and imaging put day one next to today — objective change, on paper.

Where It Hurts Is Not Where We Stop Looking

Your low back hurts. That is where we start. Not where we finish.

Dr. Michael VanDerschelden checks how your whole body moves. Feet, knees, hips, pelvis, mid back, shoulders, neck. A restriction in one spot pulls on another.

We don’t chase pain. He adjusts wherever motion is restricted, including the extremities.

Patients tell us the same thing: “I’ve been to chiropractors before, but I’ve never had an adjustment like that.” Individual results vary.

Two Adjustments You Will Not Find at Most Practices

  • Long Axis Distraction

    Y-Strap

The Y-Strap, clinically called Long Axis Distraction, pulls along the length of your spine instead of twisting it. Gravity presses your spine down all day. This gives it a brief, controlled moment of decompression. Patients say they feel taller.

  • Occipital Lift

    Magic Hug

The Magic Hug, clinically called the Occipital Lift, targets the joint where your skull meets the top bone of your neck. Dr. Michael delivers it standing on the table to get a precise line of force. It is for tight necks, headaches, and forward head posture from screens.

Not every patient gets every technique. Your findings decide.

How You Will Know It Is Working

“How are you feeling today?” is a customer service question. It is not a measurement.

Feeling better is nice. It is not proof.

At set points in your care plan, Dr. Michael VanDerschelden re-examines you. New posture measurements. New imaging where it is indicated. Then he puts day one next to today.

You see whether the structure identified on your first visit has objectively changed. On paper. Not on a scale of one to ten.

That is the difference between a chiropractic service and a chiropractic system.

This Practice Is Not for Everyone

Some people are not a fit here. Better to say so now.

  • If your first question is the price of an adjustment, fees here are not negotiated and care is not discounted.
  • If you want a quick adjustment with no exam and no X-rays, the workup happens every time. No exceptions.
  • If you expect one visit to undo months of dysfunction, the care plan will disappoint you.
  • If you do not want to look at your own X-rays and posture data, the model does not work. The whole care plan is built from it.
  • If you found Dr. Michael through his fasting or nutrition content, that is a separate topic. This location is adjustment-based only.
  • If your care has to be directed by insurance, this is likely not a fit. About 5% of patients here use insurance. The practice runs primarily on prepaid care plans.
