Wheatgrass
Our intention with the group cleanse is to not only allow our participants to gently cleanse and replenish their bodies but also to introduce you to wonderful healing foods that you can begin to incorporate on a regular basis into your lives.
Last year I focused on the benefits of kale and turmeric and Dr. Cooper wrote an excellent article on garlic. We hope this has inspired you to begin to utilize these on a more regular basis.
Over the next week as you prepare your shopping list for the 2016 group cleanse, I highly encourage you to add wheatgrass to your list. This can be purchased at Sprouts, Whole Foods, Mother’s Market or any local health food store. It can also be easily grown in your back yard using a flat potting pan, soil and organic wheat grass seeds.
And for those of you on a time crunch, you can stop into Whole Foods or Mothers and I believe even Jamba Juice to get a quick wheatgrass shot!!!
“Wheatgrass juice is literally condensed sunlight energy. It is one of the most potent healing agents on the planet”. Its benefits range from more energy, to better sleep to reducing inflammation. There is a significant amount of research showing the potential benefits of incorporating wheatgrass into your diet.
We need to remember that achieving our greatest potential (vitality) is relatively simple. Our bodies run on fuel and the basis is water, air and food. Food energy is what drives every single system in your body. As you eat you need to remember that you are either propelling your body toward a state of sickness and disease or toward a state of health and wellness.
Wheatgrass juice is essentially nature’s finest medicine. Wheatgrass is a nutrient dense, high quality food. Some research articles show that 2 ounces of wheatgrass is nutritionally equivalent to 4-5 pounds of raw organic produce.
It has twice the amount of Vitamin A as carrots and is higher in Vitamin C than oranges. It contains the full spectrum of B-vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium in a balanced ratio. It is a complete source of protein, supplying all of the essential amino acids.
In addition to supplying our bodies with therapeutic doses of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and phytonutrients, wheatgrass is also a powerful detoxifier of the liver and the blood. It cleanses the body of heavy metals, pollutants and toxins. After the cleanse ends, I encourage you to add this to your weekly diet as a means of continually cleansing.
Wheatgrass juice is particularly high in chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is found within plants and gives it the green color. It is through the sun light energy that the production of chlorophyll occurs and it is essentially the first product of light and contains more healing properties than any other element. All life on our planet comes from the sun.
This important phytonutrient is what your cells need to heal and to thrive. Drinking wheatgrass is essentially like drinking liquid sunshine!
I hope this inspires you to add wheatgrass to your daily life!
