Huntington Beach Chiropractic works with patients who have neck pain, low back pain, headaches, sciatica, and forward head posture. Founded in 2019 by Dr. Michael VanDerschelden, DC, California Chiropractic License #32929, the practice takes digital X-rays and posture analysis before any adjustment and documents change through re-examination. Patients have left 437 five-star Google reviews.

You Got Adjusted. Nobody Ever Showed You What Was Wrong.

You’ve had your neck turned. You’ve heard it pop. By Thursday the pain was back.

That’s because most practices adjust from two things: their hands and a pain scale. They feel your spine. They ask how you’re doing today. Then they adjust.

“How are you feeling today?” is a customer service question. It is not a clinical finding.

Huntington Beach Chiropractic rejects that standard. Feeling better is not proof that you’re getting better.

The Pain States Dr. Michael VanDerschelden Works With

Dr. Michael VanDerschelden works with patients who have:

  • Low back pain and sciatica

The deep ache that flares when you sit, drive, or stand too long. Plus the sharp line of pain that runs down the leg.

  • Neck pain and stiffness

Tightness that never fully lets go, and a neck that won’t turn as far as it used to.

  • Headaches and migraines

The ones that start at the base of the skull and keep coming back.

  • Forward head posture

Your head sits in front of your shoulders. You’ve started seeing it in photos.

  • A developing curve in the neck or upper back

The hump you can now see and feel.

  • Restricted range of motion

You can’t train, work, or turn your body the way you used to.

One thing ties them together. They are all musculoskeletal. That is the scope of chiropractic, and Dr. Michael VanDerschelden stays inside it.

If your problem sits outside that scope, he’ll say so on day one — not after you’ve paid for a care plan.

Your X-rays Decide What Happens Next. Not Your Symptoms.

Pain shows up late. By the time your back hurts, the structure has usually been changing for years.

So the pain is where the conversation starts. It is not where the exam stops.

Your first visit is a workup. Digital X-rays. PostureRay analysis of those X-rays. PostureScreen posture measurements. Dr. Michael VanDerschelden puts real numbers on what your spine is doing — degrees and millimeters, not a guess.

Then he shows you. On the screen. Before he adjusts anything.

Your care plan gets built from those findings. Yours, not a template. Two people with the same low back pain can need two completely different plans, because their X-rays are different.

And later, re-examinations answer the only question that matters: did the structure actually change? New images. New measurements. Side by side with day one.

Every condition on this page is handled through one service: chiropractic adjustments. Depending on what your images show, that may include the Y-Strap, clinically called Long Axis Distraction. It is never automatic. Your X-rays decide.

Who This Practice Is Not For

Be honest with yourself before you book.

  • The walk-in patient. If you want a quick adjustment with no exam and no X-rays, this isn’t the practice. The workup comes first, every time.
  • The one-visit fixer. One adjustment will not undo years of spinal change. If that’s the expectation, you’ll be disappointed here.
  • The evidence-averse patient. If you don’t want images taken and you don’t want to look at your own findings, the model doesn’t work. The whole care plan is built from that data.
  • The non-compliant patient. If you plan to skip visits and skip your exercises, the plan can’t do its job. This one needs you.
  • The price shopper. If your first question is the per-adjustment rate, this isn’t the fit.

Dr. Michael VanDerschelden would rather tell you that now than take your money and disappoint you later.
